Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need therapy? Why do people go to therapy?

There are various reasons why a person decides to go to therapy.  Some people may be going through significant life transitions, divorce, family conflict, mental health challenges, depression, anxiety, or other challenges.  Therapy can provide many benefits including learning coping skills, improving communication and interpersonal skills, relief from mental health conditions, better expression of emotions, improved problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities, and many more.  Everyone could benefit from seeing a therapist because you can get to know yourself better by exploring your thoughts, feelings, and behavior patterns.

What is therapy like?

Therapy experiences vary because every person or family is unique and seeks therapy for different reasons.  In a therapy session, you can expect to discuss your life’s current and past events and any new insights gained. Therapy has a start and end date depending on your needs and the goals you set with the therapist. The best results from therapy occur when individuals are actively engaged and participating in the process.

Do you take insurance?

Yes. We are an in-network provider for Atena, Cigna, and Optum/UHC. Other insurance companies would be considered out-of-network providers. Depending on your specific health insurance or employee benefit plan, you may be eligible for coverage for therapy services in full or in part. You can also use your FSA or HAS cards.

Do you have a cancellation policy, and what does it say?

We have a 24-hour cancelation policy. After that point, you will be charged for your scheduled session unless you reschedule within that week during an available time.

How long does it take to see results from therapy?

Usually, individuals may notice changes around the 8-14 sessions into therapy.  Many factors can impact how long therapy is needed. It also depends if you are working on a singular concern or want a complete transformation.
